Stationary (in a shop) Detailers - Please come in

I am thinking about opening up a detail shop with a buddy of mine and wanted to know some information:



1. What type of building do you have?

2. What tools, accessories do you have (lights, cabinets, pressure washers, vacumes, etc) and how many of each

3. What do you use to clean UNDER the car (lift, jacks, etc)



Anything else I am missing. How big of a building do I need, do I need to add drains, etc.

Hey there,



I have a 22' x 30' block building which has a 10' high ceiling.



It has a 9' x 16' insulated automatic garage door.



It has a center floor drain with a 4" slope to help water drain well

.

It has 8 - 300 watt light bulbs in the ceiling.



It has a hot water heater with dual valves for hot & cold water.



It has a commercial pressure washer built in that runs on 220...same as self serve car washes use.



It has a propane gas heater hanging from the ceiling that uses a thermostat.



I have cabinets & shelves to hold all of my cleaning supplies.



I have a Mytee HP100 hot water extractor.



I have a Shop Vac...3 gallon...bought at Wal-Mart about a year ago...



It has one window in the back...have to be able to see some light.



I have a Cyclo RO polisher that I bought from Top of the Line.



I do not have any lifts at this time...may add some in the future.
 
How many car's can you fit in this space at one time? Do you have certain bays for washing...then bays for polishing, waxing, etc..



How insane are the start up costs, rent, etc???



Are your lights Flourescent, Halogen?



Anything else you can help me with? How many employees?
 
I can do one car at a time in my garage. I can wash, polish, all in the same bay.



My garage cost $15,000 to build...that is including everything.



My lights are halogen bulbs...cost about $4.00 apiece.



I do not have any employees at this time...
 
I was hoping to fit like 3-4 cars in at a time and have myself and 2 others working.



Maybe a 1500-2000sq/ft building with 1 wash bay's and the rest to complete detailing, etc...



Where did you get halogen bulbs, fixtures, etc? Any pictures of ur place?
 
I bought my halogen bulbs at Lowes...but any place like that would have them...



I haven't gotten to take any pictures...my shop isn't fancy but it does the trick.
