is there any way to eleminate static ele from a vehicle. it causes dust to be attracted even right after a wash. also hate the shock it gives off. dont want some piece of wire hanging from rear of car.

I think you cannot avoid it...Rubbing (if it is the correct word) the towel on the car it creates static electricity....As for the shock it is not because of the car,it is because of you...It depends on what your interior is made of,what clothes,how many time you was sitting in the car etc....
As for the dust you can use FK425 QD or FK1000P...They contains antistatic agents and you can see a small difference....

The wires wear out as they drag so you'll have to replace them every couple of months. There was an additive put in tires to do the same thing but I don't know how much it is used nor do I recall the name of the additive.
If your concern is static buildup while detailing, a grounding strap on the chassis might help some. Then again, it might not. Most of the static buildup I see during detailing comes from rubbing plastic parts with MF towels. This buildup usually discharges in small, painless amounts into the frame. More painful discharges usually come as a result of dry air. A grounding strap from the frame into the ground should help with that.
I don't think you'll be able to do much about dust being attracted to your paint. I think the localized buildup of charge while driving would be enough to pull dust out of the air and have it stick to your paint. Given the minimal expense to try this out, you should just get a trailing wire and see if it helps.

That sucks.
My old camry's static shock was bad. Even when i used the key to touch the metal door, i felt it go thru my fingers to my chest.
Sometime, i would hold onto the metal before i got out of my seat. The static spark was not there, but the electric shock to the chest was still there as i left the seat.
