State license for detailing?

In New Jersey, all you need to do is register the name of your detailing business at the County Clerks Office. Other than registering your business, NJ does not require a license for detailing.

In CA....

Its around $25 to get a general business license... and thats good for 6 months.. I dont know what happens after that since im not there yet :D

Then you have to go register your fictitious business name (unless your doing Bob's Auto Detailing.. thats not fictitious... but something like Super Ultimate Car Detailing Extreme would be).. I think that was $17 or so. And an anual renewal charge (havent gotten that far yet either).

AND THEN.. you have to publish your name in the newspaper.. from $15 for smaller newspapers.. to $40~ for the big ones.. depending on which one you want to go with.

I think that pretty much any state would require you to have a license... so they can make some money. lol.

In VA you get fingerprinted, they do a criminal check, and if I want to work in the City of Faifax, I need another license (same procedure all over again). To work in The city of Alexandria, you need another. It feels more like Communism. Around $50.00 each/year

It goes under "Peddlers/Solicitors License"

Insurance was $235/year

mirrorfinishman, do you know off hand how much it costs to register your name at the county clerks office???

Since I am mobile all I needed was a license for "doing business as" in the state of Georigia. Your social security number becomes your tax ID number and your home address serves as the business premises address. Cost was about $10.

Fixed location businesses require a different license and cost some more $$.

Hey Johnny,

I'm not sure wat it costs now, because when I registered my business back in 1986 there was no cost at that time. Just call your county clerks office and ask about the cost. I'm sure someone there would be able to help you.
