Starting Out for Swirl/Water Spot Removal

Hey guys, new to detailing, I’ve actually been reading the forums and doing a ton of searches but I was just making sure if you could make any final recommendations or changes to my list. I just wanted to get some swirls out of my dark blue Scion tC. The swirls aren’t horrible but under direct sunlight they show pretty good. There are also a few water spots on the hood that I couldn’t get out with ScratchX.

I just purchased a PC 7336 from Lowes. From what I’ve read, this is the list that I’ve complied. I’m trying to stay on as small of a budget possible. I haven’t bought anything yet other than the PC so I’m open to any suggestions.

Should I go with 6" or 5 Lake Country backing plate? It seems like it doesn’t really matter from what I’ve read.

One 6.5" orange pad (Lake Country)

One 6.5" white pad (Lake Country)

One 6.5 gray/black pad (Lake Country)

Optimum Polish

I was thinking Poorboy’s Natty’s Blue for wax. I’ve been reading and I heard that I should use a sealant and then use this wax? Is this necessary?

I’ll probably buy a couple MF towels too.

Is there anything else that I need? I was thinking I would buy everything off www.danase.com and use the coupon code “hohoho for the 15% off. I would appreciate the feedback. Thanks ahead of time!

Your plan oughta work as long as your paint isn't too hard (dunno, never did a Scion). IF it's really hard you might need a 4" pad setup.

I'd get the larger backing plate, less chance of the "cookie-cutter" effect on the back side of your pads, not that it was ever a real problem for me.

While I appreciate your desire to keep this affordable, I'd order *two* of each pad, if only because [stuff] happens.

I wouldn't consider a sealant mandatory, IMO you can do just fine with only a good wax. I like Collinite for its durability, but plenty of people really like the Natty's.

Danase is a good choice, very good to do business with.
