Starting on my own...

I work for a no good, money hungry, rip off company. Auto Wizard - Welcome is the one. Im tired of them taking 50% of the cut yet i have to pay for everything, including company van maintains, gas, all materials, their waay overpriced special chemical that i rarely use anymore because its ********, and even tip in for "royalty fee". Im going to be starting on my own soon and have some questions..

im from northern california. im going to be working at different dealerships all around in different countys. i got a dba (doing business as). do i need a additional business license? i tried to get one with my county but they said since im not really conducting business here, i would need to get one for whichever county i work at... does that mean i have to get a business license for like 4+ different countys? that seems like a lot of trouble and hard to keep track of when tax season comes. plus they cost about $100 each! will a dba just do it? what do i need to proof to the dealerships?

I'm not from cali but I've head that you need to get a license for each county I'm not 100% so hopefully somebody from cali would chime in or go to the regional section for cali and ask them there.

Just get a license from the county where your business address is. If it is your home, get it in the county where you live. It is not necessary to have a license in every county where you do business.

actually in cali you are supposed to have one for every city you do business in...I was told this by county officials, but was also told she hadnt asked anyone ever because there are more important papers to push...LOL
