Starting in detailing

I have been contemplating starting a detailing biz. I have some of the common tools and products and have been doing my own vehicles. I have been reading about detailing for a year, or so.

Question 1: I think it would best to learn from a school or a pro who teaches. Any suggestions? I am in Maryland.

Question 2: Is it really possible to make a living at mobile detailing? It seems that you are at the mercy of the weather and Winter would be dead.

Question 3: With so many products out there how does one decide on what to use?

1: You can learn everything you need to know on this website. But experience cannot be learned

2: Im sure many people do it, ScottWax does i believe. It helps to live in a place that doesnt have winter. Im a student, my main job is delivery pizza to hungry customers. I detail cars once or twice a week on the side during summer.

3: Everything on Autogeek, Meguiar's, 3D HD, Optimum, Sonus... to name a few. You could get the Megs Ultimate Compound and M205 combo. Or the HD Cut & Polish Combo. Or the Optimum Hyper Compound & Polish, thats a bit $$$ though.

I would strongly consider doing a business plan to see if your ideas/market can come to fruition. So many businesses open and close due to lack of organization. Don't let your's be an example. Oh, and btw, welcome to Autopia!
