Is there any cure for what I have done?
I've used LA Totally Awesome cleaner on my 2012 travel trailer in the past (full strength) to remove black streaks along the side walls. Works fantastic for getting these off. I made the mistake one hot sunny day of spraying the cleaner on like I normally would and then got distracted. The Awesome product dried on the surface of the paint causing either stains or chemical etching on the surface.
I've tried various off the shelf products like polishing compound, cleaner wax, vinegar, and some Poorboys SSR 2.5 & 1 with a PC orbital and they won't budge.
The panels are very thin painted aluminum. Not sure if it is single stage or BC/CC paint, but I am pretty sure it is just a single stage.
Looking at the MSDS for Awesome the ingredients are:
Orange Oil Blend(CAS# 8008-57-9) & (CAS#111-76-2))
Ethoxylated Alcohol (CAS# 9036 19 5)
Disodium Salt (CAS# 6834-92-0)
Tetra Sodium EDTA (CAS# 64-02-8)
Hydroxy Sodium (CAS# 1310-73-2)
Water (CAS# 7732-18-5)
I'm guessing all those salts may be to blame.
Any ideas?
Todd
