As indicated by the title i have a stain that resembles a womans reproductive organ on my hood. it was caused by a leaf sitting on there for a while while the car was immoblized due to a flat. i've tried to remove it by hitting it with Meg. paint cleaner and by claying, yet the stain remains. Any suggestiions? i don't want anyone to be offend or try to mate with my jetta. i don't know what kind of tree/leaf it was, i didn't get my forestry degree...

TIA

alex

lots of looks, no suggestions, it's a 97 jetta glx very dark blue paint that was probably repainted at some point. dunno what else to say, i applied the paint cleaner with my only machine, a very weak craftsman orbital that i got from my grandpa. it's my training toy untill it's PC time.

ummm I guess it would make for an intersting before and after pic...but not sure what exactly megs paint cleaner your talking about (megs cleaner wax?)- try megs ScratchX

sorry, deep crystal system paint cleaner, and scratch-x. i'd love to take a pict but it apears to be etched into the clear, you can't see it dead on, only as a reflection or at the right angle. My digi cam is def. not at a high enough resolution.

you will definately need something more abrasive to remove it. Scratch X would be one of the lower abrasives. Megs Paint Cleaner (from the Deep Crystal System) will definately not remove etching. It is a chemical cleaner.

If your sticking with store bought stuff, the next steps up would be a 3m Swirl Mark Remover.. or maybe Megs #9.

If that didnt work, you would need something like Megs #83 (DACP), 1Z UPP, etc... something in that range of abrasiveness. It would all depend on how much its etched into the clear coat. If these dont work, there are still more aggressive products and techniques to go to.

If the leaf was on the vehicle for any length of time, the tannic acids have already leached into the paintwork and it won't come out.

I had a 1973 Chevy Malibu Laguna S3 in the early 1980s that had a perfect imprint of a maple leaf right in the middle of the hood.

The car was assembled at a GM plant in Canada, so I thought it was fitting ;)
