SSR2 vs. SSR2.5

I have heard many raves about the SSR products. One confusion I have is the difference between SSR2 and SSR2.5



1. When do you use one over the other?

2. I am under the impression that 2.5 is more abrasive. Is that the only difference?

3. I read something about 2.5 not requiring a finer polish afterwards to remove any haze. Is this true also for the 2?
 
when you start polishing, try the least aggressive first. So when the ssr2 isn't cutting it, switch to ssr2.5. You can use the ssr2 for removing the haze from the 2.5, depending on the results you want :)

Depending on how hard your paint is, 2.5 and the 2 might not need a finer polish.

This is correct, but I find myself reaching for 2.5 more often 2.0. I find it works better than 2.0 all around.
 
How much more aggressive is the 2.5 than the 2?



I brought 2.5, 2 and the 1. Only used the 2.5 so far.

I haven't had much luck removing defects with 1. But it seems to add a bit more shine after using 2.5.

1 isnt made to remove defects....

2 is for light was/drying induced swirls...

2.5 is like 2, but a little more aggressive......

3 is the bad boy, and has removed just about everything ive asked it to do, of course I always follow up with either 2.5 or 2.0.....

maniac, SSR 1 is a maintenance polish. If your happy with the lack of wash or dry induced swirls, 1.0 is a good "go to" for light cleaning prior to reapplying another coat of protection.....i always recommend a quick polish or cleaning if your trying to add another coat of protection. Unless it has been a short time since you last application and/or its been garaged...
 
I have found SSR1 to be useless with the PC but it has its place with the rotary as it will remove really light marring and buffer trails left over from SSR2. I hate it because it stains pads and anything else that is used in the polishing process.
 
Same. For me SSR 1-2.5 have been replaced by OCP and OCC. They don't stain pads, don't dust, have longer working times, and their aggressivness varies by pad. I still use SSR3 for the really tough stuff, though.
 
SSR2.5 used to be my go to polish but I got so fed up with how much it dusts that I'm exploring other avenues, namely Optimum, but am also really starting to like Meguiar's again. I also found SSR1 to be pointless - it just doesn't do anything and I found myself going to PwC instead. I've used nearly a gallon of SSR2.5 to about 10oz of SSR1 which goes to show how little it actually gets used.



If PB reformulated SSR2.5 so it didn't dust it would be my go to again, but at the moment I find myself spending almost as long cleaning the car up as I do polishing it - or am I just using it wrong?

SSR is Super Swirl Remover by Poorboys.



Comes in Different Grades 1, 2, 2.5 and 3



1 is the mildest, 3 the most abbrassive.

Not got the 3 but have the 1,2 and 2.5, had a play today on my own car. 2.5 seems to have a bit more bit the the 2. Felt more comfortable with multiple passes and 2.0 on black though. Didnt get any off the hazing I did when I tried 2.5 before with the 2 today, but maybe I had just found out how long to work it for.
