This is a pic of the little old lady that lives across the street from me, here it is 38 degrees out and she is out washing that Olds. She is really an autopian at heart, at least she tries. In the summer time I bet she washes that car almost 3 times a week. Not bad for someone that is probably pushing 75 years old.

Awesome :xyxthumbs

I had this great aunt once that had this Plymouth K-car. It was her pride and joy but she was getting on in years and the car was suffering from door-ding-itis. It has dimples down the side that resembled the lunar landscape. It seems she picked bad parking lots or just had bad luck. It bothered her and she tried to fix the chips with touch-up paint of varying shades of tan in an attempt to match the GM Cinnamon color of the car. It was an attempt in vain. The car took on a look not unlike that of Erwin Rommel's desert camouflaged Panzer tank! It had spots and bumps of different sizes and colors all down the sides. It was quite a sight. She covered every damn one of those chips. With a BIG brush.

Brad that is hilarious!

My brother-in-law is color-blind and tried to fix some paint chips in his red Infinity using PINK nail-polish. No sanding or leveling was done.....just globbed on the nail-polish right over the chips till the primer was no longer visible due to the big blob covering it. Up until I pointed it out to him, he didn't know how ridiculous his car looked.

Wow Redcar, somehow that story brings a little tear to my eye. ;) Good to see her heart is in the right place.

Have you thought about complimenting her about this and giving her some simple care tips?

ya know I did think about that, but with talking to anyone about detailing their cars you have to watch it, they think that their way is the best and dont really care about what you think:rolleyes:

Ugh, you know what? You're totally right. I'm getting flashbacks to when I "helped" my other friend wash his car. Couldn't take constructive criticizm at all. :down

You could always just give her compliments on keeping her car clean. You could mention that you are a car care freak too. You don't have to offer pointers, but that way you leave the door open in case she ever wants to ask you anything or talk detailing. :nixweiss

Pretty darn good for someone in their 70's. Look how and where she is standing----on the door sill (usually not the most stable place). She also appears to be putting most of her weight on her right leg. Pretty good posture, too. Hope I can do that when I'm that old......it may be all I have left.....or all I want to do. :D

Keep in mind, RCG is about 24 years old. This "old" neighbor is probably about 35, which is "old" to 24 year olds.:D

I think you're right about that one. Especially with an elderly person, the more respectful thing to do would be just to compliment her and step back. Who knows, maybe she'll ask for advice herself.

offer to wash and wax her car for money :xyxthumbs

I'm confused, am I or am I not looking at a picture of a 75ish year old "grandma" washing a car. She seems a little tall and young for elderly to me. Course, I'm sleepy and I probably didn't read it correctly. :D
