Spring detail of my 92 GMC...

YNOT

Poorboys Rules!
I'm so glad that warmer weather is getting here. It's been a while since my baby has seen any TLC...in fact I think it was around Sept/Oct of 2010 when she last got polished. I changed back to my 'summer wheels' a few weeks ago and finally got a good solid day to polish on her.

Since buying this truck back in November of 2009, I never really spent a good amount of time to work out some of the bigger scratches, I hit it all with Poorboy's SSR1 and called it good enough but was never 100% satisfied with my work. But this weekend, I had more time so I ran this baby through the full gamut.

In addition to a wash and claybarring, I hit it with some SSR3, 2.5 and then finally SSR1. Followed it up with Poorboy's EX, Natty's Blue and then a coat of Natty's Red on top. The finish is so smooth...I love it!! I can still see a few scratches in the bed, but I got quite a few out so I think I'm happy now. Some day I may borrow my dad's rotary and wet sand the bed a bit but for a 92, I'd say I can probably just live with it. She still looks 10x better than most 92's on the road.

I always remember to take a few shots of the "swirls", but then get busy and forget to get shots of the same angle "after" I polish it. hehe.

So here are some before and after shots...

I hope you all like 'em. Any comments are certainly welcome.

Thanks guys.

Looks much better...that thing is in good shape, did you restore it?

Nah...I picked it up used back in November of 2009 and have been spending a bit of time tinkering with it here and there. It's my daily driver...which is killing me on gas right now.:rockon

It was in pretty good shape when I got it, just very badly neglected in more ways than one. The body was real straight and clean...just swirly and dirty, but she needed over $1000 in repairs to get it to pass inspection. It was love at first site when I saw it and I have many plans for it providing she hangs in there for me for several years. I had another lowered 92 GM full-size truck back in the late 90's and have always regretted selling it, so I'm enjoying this one.

Wow!

I'm quite impressed, that's an amazing turnaround. Well done my friend!

The real question is; how much PBR did you go through throughout the entire detail? ;)

Thanks guys. Oh, and John...only went through a few PBR's. I wait til I'm almost done to start the celebratory drinking. Otherwise I tire out and lose focus. hehe.

I pretty much drink sugar free Red Bull and water all day as I work.

I'm more of a lift kinda guy :D:notme:

Lol looks nice and glossy great job as well!!! :dance2
