hey guys. just picked up a cheap 500$ for the winter since our last one got totaled and we are still waiting for the check. anyway. the kid spray painted everything blue and silver and it looks hidious. what is the best way to go about vinyl dieing this? should i wipe it all down with acitone or something first? or just go right over it? it doesnt have to be perfect but just a single color would be nice lol

You do need to use some kind of solvent first to get rid of any old dressings, grease, or anything that would make the dye "fish eye". Vinyl Dye is very sensitive to things like that and wont stick unless the surface is preped correctly. I would suggest something like Prep Sol of Final Sol.

Adding to what mrclean81 said, I'd also warn you that vinyl dye isn't going to be effective over top of paint -- assuming the "kid" spray painted using krylon/rustoleum type paint you'd have to remove it first.

what exactly did they paint ... If they are door panels etc .. go to a junk yard and just replace them

door pannels, dash, radio bezel all the vents, cener console, e brake handle lol., kick pannels, pillars lol you name it. maybe i should just get some black paint.

i'd try a junk yard for a whole interior ..not sure i'd like to look at either:yikes:
