I got a grout sponge Friday at HD and tried it yesterday and I think I'm in love thanks to the cheap price tag. I used it on my black Bonneville yesterday and saw no difference in performance from my sheepskin or Schmitt. I love it because, like the Schmitt, it holds so much more solution. I hate it using the sheepskin and having half the solution hit the ground before the paint. It worked great to squeeze it some to get some solution on the panel, clean an area, then squeeze it more in another area, flip it over and clean. One thing that never impressed me about my sheepskin is that no matter what, I always find particles in the hairs. But I couldn't find any with the sponge. I would clean it in the rinse bucket, and it came out perfect. Even after it got black a couple times from the areas behind the wheels, it came clean. I'm assuming the particles of dirt just go into the pores of the sponge when washing. I actually have had one of these sponges for a couple years that I used on grout, but it's the one with the coarse white backing. I thought about trying it, but it's too ratty looking. I actually am going to pick up one of those the next time I'm at HD. It should work great for cleaning the tar and crap on the wheel wells.

Glad to see you're happy with it.:) They do rinse clean pretty easy during the wash. If you do as I do and let your wash bucket sit a day or so before it's cleaned out you will see a ton of dirt/grit settled at the bottom. Seems like the sponge is doing it's job just as intended.

I guess I'd better run and grab a few more before HD raises the prices due to newfound popularity.:D

I grabbed a sponge from HD over the weekend too and tried it on my car. I noticed that the sponge did not hold as much suds as my MF mitt. Is there a technique to get the sponge to hold more suds. Do you squeeze and release the sponge under the water or just drop it on top or just dunk it in the bucket?

My girlfriend and I washed her black Mercedes over the weekend. I sprayed the foam gun and she wiped with a microfiber mitt from Proper Auto Care. Well, the mitt picked up a small sharp particle that scratched the **** out of her hood. It was so bad, it looked like vandalism after the final rinse. We spent the next four hours polishing it out.

DISCLOSURE: I HAVE NOT TRIED A MF MITT.

That said, I don't see a reason to try one as I just don't see anywhere for dirt/grit to "stow away" until you rinse it out. It looks like I'm a GS man for life.:D

Tried one this weekend and did not care for it. Who knows for sure, I will give it a few more washes before making a final decision. Glad it worked for you.

Anything in particular that you didn't like? I'm pretty sure that the single sponges are softer than the ones you have and fit into nooks a lot better. Not everybody is going to like them just like the various products but I'm SOLD on them.

I just picked up 2 at HD--they were loose in a bin, they were made in greece and felt very soft $1.97

Yes sir, good question. It felt like that I had to press too hard to get it to clean. It just felt like I had to press to hard. Like I said, I only used it once which is why I want to try it again before passing final judgement. I did enjoy how much it held suds wise from my Megs NXT soap. I will give it a try tomorrow probably with the ONR. Just got me a shiny new gallon!!

Oh and if you want to pick me 2-3 of them and mail them to me I can give you my Fed Ex account number!!

Not avoiding you on AIM either, been having MAJOR computer issues.

Oh man, I don't want to start anything with the shipping and all. I'm having a hard enough time getting a minute to myself as it is.:o
