Speed Glaze (#80) or Swirl Free Polish (#82)

Which one is a better product for a single step process before waxing or to remove the marring left by DACP. I believe Speed Glaze is just a hair more aggressive then SFP, but which would give better results. Wax to be used is going to be Pinnacle Souvern or NXT.

If you think you might need something stronger than the SFP, then you probably will. The #80 will leave a ready-to-wax finish and sounds like just what you need, especially if you want to use it as a single-step polish.

I agree with Accumulator about the use of #80. I do not have much experience with #80 but its results are great. The compound breaks down into a very fine polish and leaves a great shine with a little protection since it contains a mild polymer.

This weeken the humidity was very low and I polished half the trunk with #80 and followed with Klasse SG with very good results. I let SG rest 30 minutes before removal with MF and there were no problems.

My next test will to do a whole car with#80 followed by SG.

Cheers,

Eric

jcake5,

I seriously doubt that the SG bonded to the Megs#80. You should have followed #80 with Klasse AIO than SG.

So reading this 83 - 80 - 82 - 81 is the order of most agressive to least agressive in the eighty lineup.

What would the reccomeneded uses for 80?

What would the recommended uses for 82?

Product on hand know PC, 3mrc, 83, 3M SMR, 3M HAND GLAZE. About to run out of 3M SMR. I just starting using the PC.

I just started improving my detailing through this site..Thanks:D

Gravedigger- Use #80 for marring that's too bad to be easily removed by #82. Or just use #80 'cause you like it better ;)

Your most-least aggressive list is correct, but note that the #81 is really a nonabrasive product.

Newb question... After using #80 is there no need to use AIO? Does the #80 subsitute for AIO? Because I was thinking of using #80, AIO, then 3x SG, followed by P21s.

I'd like the answer to Mr Big Bass' question too!

Also, which is better for a new (black) car with very light webbing, #80 or #82? How much more aggresive is #80 than #82? Would the AIO take care of the webbing so I don't have to get #80 or #82?

Thanks!

AIO is more of a chemical cleaner while the Megs polishes in this thread are abrasives. Both with 'clean' the surface, but AIO won't remove surface marring/swirls like the Megs polishes. Each has its own use, depending on what you are trying to accomplish.

If you are going to use SG, I'd suggest using AIO prior. I've not used #80 or #82, but I'd suspect that they have *some* amount of oils in them that SG might have problems bonding to. Better to be safe and get a sqeaky clean surface with AIO before you apply the SG.

I got this straight from the description from CMA about AIO

"All-In-One contains special cleaners and a fine polish that quickly and easily removes old wax, road film, light oxidation and minor swirl marks."

Is this not true about minor swirl marks?

Thanks :)

If it does have any "fine polish" in there, it's super mild and I have not really noticed much (if any) swirl mark removal capabilities. Probably similar to SEC or GEPC. It does have lots of chemical cleaners in there that will remove oxidation and contaminates though.

In any event, I'd still recommend using a more aggressive polish for swirl mark removal then follow with AIO for the final cleaning before SG.

I haven't found AIO capable of *any* swirl removal either. Gotta be a little, uhm, careful ;) about ad copy, even that of reputable vendors.

ANB- It's really impossible to say for certain without seeing the marring that you're talking about and even then, without knowing how hard the paint is :nixweiss If I *had* to give an answer, I'd say to go with the #80, as most marring seems to be harder to remove than people expect.

Mr. Big Bass- Must say I've never tried applying SG without using AIO first; IMO prepping with the AIO is just the right thing to do. So no, I don't think the #80 will be a substitute for the AIO, just a different product doing a different thing, but again, it's just an educated guess.
