Special Rates/Promo Program???

So I just got offered a fantastic opportunity to work with a local club and be their "exclusive" detailer. The club is not expecting any kick-backs or anything, the only thing they are requesting is a "Special Rate" or "Discount" for their club members. It's a service that the club wants to have for their members and they want the members to feel that they are receiving a discounted price. Wanted to see if anyone has done something similar and been successful with it.

Any ideas/thoughts on a program I could run?

Price your full details about $50 over your normal rate then offer the club members that rate minus the $50....That's the discount.

I handle a few collections and some Porsche club members it seems its the nature of the beast. However it has been steady work. The problem is everyone talks in clubs about what they paid. Beemerboy has a good idea. Determining what level each person want's is hard. Maybe making a price list specific to the group and figuring your cost/profit could keep it profitable also (bulk quality product versus top shelf). Just a thought. I've also hosted like a club get together with a demonstation to educate what you do. It put everyone on the same page on what it takes. Also a good opportunity to feel out the crowd your dealing with. One misunderstanding within a club spreads like wild fire.

I tried that.. and Got no were plus once someone else got in to detailing they totally undercut me and did a not so good job but the masses don't care..

1 everyone though I was over priced
2 I cut them a deal
3 someone else got in to detailing
4 they did a suck job but really undercut me
No one cared about how their car looked too much

Unfortunately they have already received my pricing from someone else

This may be what I end up doing

John, where in Ohio are you from???

I completely agree with you there

That crap drives me nuts, this is a pretty high end club though. So I am not worried about that in this situation.

Just south of Dayton

Maybe you can get whomever your dealing with the club and get together and lay things out on the table to find out where you can give a little. Cutting your labor rate can also spread and then EVERYONE wants a discount. Collections are the same way. The more the cars, the more they are driven, the more they want something;
because they feel they're giving you steady work.

On the collections I order and stock everything there but its on their credit card and account. Gives them something and I dont cut my labor as much. Plus I'm using their water, building, etc.

This is always tough. You just don't want to cut out your regular work.

Your discount if you choose should also reflect the amount of steady work they bring.
