Souveran

:bow Is all I have to say. Ordered some Souveran and tried it for the first time today on half of my hood. I am very impressed. It looks so wet and deep it is unbelieveable. I can't wait to use it on the rest of the car this weekend. I have been using s100 and was pretty happy with the results, but souveran, wow, there is a noticable difference. If you have a black car you owe it to yourself to try it.

jpws6,

I agree about Souveran on black! :xyxthumbs

Here is ia pic of my jet black 7 with a Souveran topper over P21S! I just love the look. Souveran on black = wet, deep & liquid.

It also has a bit more "pop" than S100 on red cars.

I think Souveran even says something on their jar about being "brilliant on red and black." They're not kidding. I wish it were a bit cheaper.

If you like carnauba wax, it's nice to have both in the arsenal.

Once or twice a year someone puts Souveran on sale. Keep your eye open. When this happens, Terry at CMA always seems to match their sale price :xyxthumbs. I got mine from CMA for $39.95! :bounce

Nevertheless, I still believe at $70 Souveran is worth it. :bow

I have used Souveran on my wife's black mustang. It created such a nice deep gloss. I am currently experimenting with VM glaze and S100. I have not decided which I like best. I guess I will leave it up to the wife to decide...Andrew

Now that I've had Souveran for a while, I don't think I'd buy it again. Don't get me wrong, it looks great and is very enjoyable to use. I just never find myself using it. I think Blackfire has just as neat a look (though not the same kind of look, and maybe not quite as deep) and it lasts so much longer. I guess I just don't like knowing I have to wax once a month to keep up the protection (even if I wax once a month anyway). I dunno... :nixweiss

I guess I'm not like :bow :spot about it anymore. I'm more like :dance

Out of curiosity, does anyone else worry when they use paste products? I always worry I'll get some crud or grit in the paste or something. With liquids, the product comes out of the bottle, but nothing goes in so it remains pure. With a paste, an applicator goes into the product so if it has some crud on it, it will crud up the product. It doesn't cause me sleepless nights or anything, but it's always in the back of my mind. I guess I'm a wierdo...

My problem is that it is the first "Autopian" product I ever bought, for my red car. I got 3 cans of it, for a bit under $40 per (when they were on sale last fall, changing the packaging). Now how do I use something else?

Tip: using Pinnacle's QD after each wash extends the life of the "pop" another week or two.

Awesome, Amp - But it couldn't have anything to do with the fact that you detail twice a day! :D ;)

Low Tech,

Actually, I have cut back to detailing only once a day! :D

I just love how well polished black paint looks just after being waxed with Souveran and then QD'd with Crystal Mist! :xyxthumbs

Pay attention to the difference in dust attraction and how clean it rinses in a rain storm. Those are the biggest differences between Pinnacle waxes and the S100/P21S waxes. The appearance difference is in the eye of the beholder, but the durability and performance differences may be a little more visable. Keep an eye on it and let us know what you think. :bigups

I'm not saying that. I was just saying that he should keep an eye on it so that he can make that call for himself. Durability is based on more than just the wax. Obviously it will last longer if the car is garaged all night and spends all day in covered parking versus the car that is outdoors 24/7. I was just saying that he should keep an eye on how long it lasts so he could tell us what he thinks of the differences. I've already posted my reviews of the two waxes. ;) Its always good to see the results for yourself though.

Unfortunately I am not really going to be able to give a report on durability. The car is not a daily driver, it is garaged and only taken out in nice weather, has only seen the rain once in 2.5 years. It will probably get rewaxed every 3-4 weeks whether it needs it or not. So far I only have 1 coat of souveran on though.

In the week that it has been on there the souveran does seem to attract a little more dust than the s100 I was previously using. Jngrbrdman, you are saying in your experience it attracted less dust? I used a couple different qd's with it trying to figure out what works best, clearkote qs and pinnacle cm. The qs seems to work a lot better on bugs, etc on the nose of the car, but it leaves the paint with a funny feeling. It looked nice, but it felt somewhat clingy and was "squeaky clean" when I was done with it, if that makes sense. I did not experience this with qs and s100 as it worked great with s100. The cm qd worked very nice with the souveran, left the paint looking very deep and was very slick, like it was just waxed. What type of qd are you guys using with souveran?

Wait 24 hours and put another coat on. You'll be amazed again. Wait a week and do it again. This is what I did on my black 911. Now I just apply a coat about once a month. But my 911 isn't a daily driver either (it is a 1988 with 27k miles).

I have never used S100 so I can't comment on the dust issue. I haven't noticed that Souveran attracts more dust. For a quick detailer, I use Crystal Mist.

jpws6,

I like using CM as the QD on Souveran. It leaves my jet black paint looking wet, wet, wet! :D

I also like EFCP and have recently tried Meguiars Final Detail QD and I like it as well. I got some Final Detail from Mike Phillips at BimmerFest in Santa Barbara last April. FD leaves the paint very slick but is not as deep looking as the CM.

AMP99, since you have experimented with s100 and souveran, did you notice souveran attracted more dust than souveran?
