This Saturday was the East Coast Detailer’s Workshop at Detailer’s Domain in northern NJ. It was an incredible event from start to finish and felt lucky it was happening only an hour north from me.
Larry was there to basically demonstrate anything people asked, he was obviously very popular at the event and was asked a ton of questions. I spoke to him for a few minutes and thanked him for popping onto reddit every now and then, he said he’s been meaning to get back on but is understandably very busy. He brought a stash of Ammo products for purchase which was the first time he’s done something like this. He kept explaining he wasn’t there to sell anything, just talk detailing with everyone. I bought some Mud Tire Gel and got some gloves for free because his guy didn’t have enough change for me
.
Phil has a beautiful shop and a wide variety of products for sale. He was very welcoming to everyone and it was great meeting him and everyone else there.
The Rupes guys were there to demonstrate the new Mark II polishers and show off the Nano. The machine seems extremely promising and I wish I could justify spending the money to get one right now. The battery packs hold a 30 minute lifetime and take about 15 minutes to fully charge up again, so you can easily swap back and forth between packs. Plus, you can plug it into an outlet and not need to worry about batteries at all. The machine was very comfortable to hold and use and weighs just over a pound. The ability to switch between orbit size, rotary use & DA use with adapters, be able to spot sand and correct makes this machine that most professionals will be drooling over. They only had the short neck version for demo there. It’s a little too big to get beneath door handles, but it’s perfect for smaller panels and pillars. We were told to get your name on a preorder list NOW if you want them as the delays keep building for the machines.
It was amazing talking detailing with people who actually knew what they were doing.
Thank you again to Detailers Domain, Phil, the Rupes team, and Larry. Looking forward to more events like this in the future!
