Some miscellaneous rambling about miscellaneous products

The Rainmaker
The temperature finall got into the 50+ range and I was able to clean the van up a little.
Even though it was raining, I was able to clean it up in the garage with DP 4-in-1 Rinseless Wash. I was a little dirtier than I felt comfortable using S&W on. Using my new sea sponge, it would seem I'm finally learning to use this product correctly. Very little water mess on the garage floor when I was finished. With the sea sponge, I didn't feel the need for any 4-in-1 in my rinse water. I can squeeze the sea sponge almost dry and I don't think I was diluting the wash solution enough to worry about.
Both of these products worked good for me.

I then used the Optimum Poli-Seal with the PC, a Meg's polishing pad at a speed of 5. It did a good job, but I did have to hit the hood a second time to clean it up. The van has been outside 24/7 this winter and the snow and ice was not kind to it. I think I'm going to like the Poli-Seal.

The next step was Dura Gloss #105 by hand and after removing the 105, I followed up with Dura Gloss AW.
The white was almost glowing. A guy at the gas station actually asked me if the color was white pearl. :D
Some Poli-Seal on the wheels and some Bold & Brite on the tires and it was fit to drive again.

The Dura Gloss looks great and seemed to hold up pretty well through the winter, but....
The slickness of UPP is far superior to anything I have ever used, including the Dura Gloss. The only thing that came close was Collinite Insulator Wax.

FWIW, I felt 4 Star treated Dwayne in such a crappy manner when they pulled the product line from him that I switched products. I sold my full bottles of UPP, UPC, and UPSS and never looked back.

Rambling ended for now. :)

Charles..did you feel comfortable with the Sea Sponge...reason I ask as I am on the edge of getting a couple..and I know you are fussy at times and I respect your thoughts on it...

Do you feel it would give a mar free wash using a bucket wash...and release all the grit safely..

Thanks
Al

Hi Al:
Fussy??? Who me? :)
I bought the Acme from my local Ace Hardware store. They had to order it, but it arrived in just a couple of days.
I washed it and checked it thoroughly for any sand residue and didn't see any.
If it works with a rinseless wash, I sure think it would work with a conventional bucket wash.
At this time, I would have no problem using it.
The sponge feels somewhat hard or stiff when dry, but is very soft when wet. I don't think you will be disappointed.
FWIW, I have a couple of ShMitts on order right now as well.

Charles every time this comes up I feel like I'm going to get stoned for saying this but I've really enjoyed Sea Sponges. I've used them for years and still like them. Of course I've used everything else in between and still do but I like to have a Sea Sponge in my bucket.

:bonk: :chop :boot :redcard: :wall :passout:

This was as close as I could come to stoning. :)
I had my reservations until I tried one.

Yes I wasn't too happy when autopia got the 4 star line distribution rights.
I don't know the circumstances but still support rick and gary at 4 star. Looking forward to sampling the ultima line from them

Duragloss AW has made me very happy and when I emailed them, I got a quick response and a free gift
I'll be trying their polishes soon.

The only problem with UPP is it's 3 month durability and slicknes loss. I used to top it with wolfgang DGPS sealant to keep the slickness up

Charles: You may find that Optimum Poli-Seal left untopped leaves a finish as slick as UPP. The new production version of PwS is equally slick.

I'm interested in hearing your thoughts about the Shmitt. I used cotton chenille mitts most of the winter with rinseless washes (4-in-1 and NRWS). Now that the weather is warming up, I've gone back to using the Shmitts again with regular hose & bucket washes. I especially like the white/white Shmitt for paint and white/yellow for wheels and tires in good condition. The black/black is better for wheels and tires in poor condition. I have yet to find a good use for the yellow/white model.
