Sold @ $1,300

I did a seminar today and I always start out asking the audience how much they spend on their car wax/sealant. Today was a first. I actually met someone who shelled out 1300 bucks on the Zymol Estate Glaze. He came up to me after the class and almost started crying. He told me he just wanted the best for his prize Porsche which is why he bought it in the first place. He was stunned when I told him I could have saved him $1,290 and he would have done much better with a sealant. I'm amazed how little the public knows about detailing/techniques/ and supplies. I guess that's why my clinics are so popular. Gary

This guy now needs to go back and correctly prep his vehicle, then use his zymol wax. The prep is very important, as a wax is only as good as what you put on top of it.

However, even with the prep, I've yet to see an lsp render quite the same way as a Zymol Estate Wax product. Expensive, yes; Potent......Yes!

I actually feel bad for the guy. I can relate to wanting the best for your car, and let's face it, not everyone wants to do all the research first. So, they browse, listen to ads, and make their decision on incomplete information. I'm not justifying it, but it happens. People are busy, and make decisions based on incomplete or faulty info all the time, it is actually a major factor in economics.

Anyways. back to the point, I feel for him. He did what he thought would help, and got kinda ripped off. OK, got really ripped off. I probably would have been almost at the point of tears too. You think you did the best you could based upon the knowledge you had, only to find that you could have done much better for much less. Kinda like getting the uuber shaft. Anyways, I guess my point is that we all love cars, and when somebody screws up trying to get their cars to be autopian, we should try to relate, we were all there at one point (but maybe without a $1300 tin of wax).

Sounds like your seminars are a real hit Gary, congratulations! Sounds like you've found a winner.

Well I too can be classified as unknowledgable except, I don't have the $$$. Up to the point when I first found this site, I didn't know my a$$ from my head as far as proper prep. My school was the local auto supply store who just pointed you to a shelf and said pick. Hell, since I joined, I go to the neighborhood so called "detailers" and observe. I'm no pro just a rook trying to develope my skills and knowledge, but the mistakes I see (even my untrained eye) people will still pay for, and these guy's charge $25-$125 for. I even seen wet looking cars and when asked what wax/sealant they all said $700-$900 from the dealer, crap, it even brings a tear to my eye.

Thanks to all the PROS here for taking the time and effort to post your results so rookies like me will benefit and won't be CONed..

The Game..
