Soap

Hey guys, I'm looking for a good soap that won't strip my dodo juice wax.

A weekly wash soap is what i need, and something that is body shop safe! no siicone!

Thanks guys!

Being *very* particular about shampoos, the only one I use is Griot's Car Wash. The Optimum shampoo is supposedly *almost* as nice, and the DuraGloss is supposedly right up there with those two.

I was *NOT* impressed with Gold Class; my fave Meg's shampoo is #62 but I quit using that as soon as I tried the Griot's.

Whatever you choose, I'd sure pick something that's available in gallons.

accumulator, that griots' looks good. I might just go with that. 40 bucks a gallon seems like the best so far.

can you elaborate on why you only us this one?

thanks!

I use the Griot's because of all the "normal factors": cleans well, gentle enough on my LSP, *great* lubricity and presumably also great encapsulation. It just *works* with my wash regimen...virtually never get wash-induced marring and I don't have to redo my LSPs all the time even though I use it kinda strong these days.

I have little (not quite "no" ;) ) doubt that the Optimum and DuraGloss may well be perfectly OK, but I'm not eager to try fixing something that's not broken just to save the amount of money in question. If somebody else wants to go that route I bet it'll work out OK. ( Note that Tom P says those are OK and his word is enough for me.)

As I've posted before, I do find that the better shampoos make it a *lot* easier to wash without marring, and it can be funny how some of the good ones (e.g., BlackFire, Pinnacle) were just *so* harsh on my LSP! I really did like the Pinnacle back when I was using Souveran on everything, hey...I had to rewax all the time anyhow :D

But what I simply don't get is buying the little bottles that so many come in. If you use as much shampoo as I do you'd go through a pint/etc. in no time, and when you add up the cost I'd think that even the Griot's compares OK if you buy the latter in gallons. But Optimum/Duragloss cost what...20-25% less that Griot's? That *would* add up to pretty good savings mighty quick!

The thing I like about 1z Perls is it contains some polymers so it adds a bit of protection. Also helps sheet the water off real well and makes drying faster.

thanks accum for the great writeup, as usual!

D&D, I didn't see that 1z perls in the gallon on AutoGeek.

Where could i get it?

oh and also, accum the griot's and optimum are both 39.99 on autogeek. Now i have a tough decision. lol

Huh...they must've raised the price on the Optimum. Heh heh, I would think that makes it an *easier* decision myself ;)

EDIT: Looking at the AutoGeek site today, the Optimum shampoo is still $29.99.

ok, lol.

Accum, have you used the optimum as well?

There both 40 for the gallon, so whichever one you like better is the one i'll get. thanks again!

I've used Megs Shampoo Plus with good success at about $15 a gallon. It works extremely well for me, but I have heard wonderful things about Optimum Car Wash. Accumulator is the only person I know using the Griots, but like he has said, it has worked perfect for him.
