Soaking microfibers

I know that there has been a lot of discussion regarding the best way to clean microfibers. I recall reading that a lot of people will presoak their microfibers in Dawn or something to help loosen some of the dirt before washing them (Woob - where do you get PrepWash?). How long before washing do you need to soak them? Since I only detail my own cars, it can take up to one month before I need to do a load of mf's (sometimes longer). Does it matter how long the products have been on the mf? Or should I soak right away? I just think I wouldn't want to be soaking a towel for a month before washing it. Thanks in advance for the advice.

I'm only doing my own car & some family vehicles so I don't accumulate dirty MF as quickly as some. They might soak for a few days, maybe a week.

I let them soak in hot water with Dawn & aggitate them whenever I'm in the basement. It's surprising how much dirty/product residue will rinse out before tossing them into the wash .

I doubt leaving the towels soaking will damage them in any way & this'll prevent products from drying on/in the MF, making 'em easier to wash.

I wash hot with Woolite, rinse warm, then rinse a second time & hang to dry.

I usually put mine in Dawn and hot water and agitate them then let them soak over night. Then I wring them out and run through a quick cycle in the washer (hot water)with out detergent to rinse out the Dawn. Then I wash using Cheer Free in hot water with an extra rinse. Throw into the dryer at medium setting and they are good to go.
Dawn seems to remove some of the waxy (oily) residue that regular laundry detergent won't ... PLUS ... the washing machine doesn't get any scum ring, using this method, and that helps keep everybody happy.

I have a particular problem with leaves and MF's. It's routine for me to sweep the garage and driveway before detailing but still sometimes I get little bits of leaves in the MF's. Do you think soaking would help remove them?

Right now, that MF get regulated to engine, wheel and rocker panel work or in one particularly bad case - tossed aside.

Anyone else have a problem with leaves and have a solution?

TIA

A tip - if you add a cup of white distilled vinegar to the rinse cycle it will make your MF's softer and fluffier than you can ever imagine.

Yes and no.:(
I seem to have my best luck by brushing the leaf infested area of the MF with a nylon bristle hand brush and rewashing it.
The MF's really hold onto some of the debris that they pick up.

FWIW, use your leaf blower to blow out your garage instead of sweeping it. It seems like I have much less dust in the air that settles after you finish sweeping. The blower keeps it moving out of the garage if you have the door open.

You can pre-soak the MF in Tide. Just fill the wash machine with enough warm water to cover the towels. Pour in a full cup of Tide, and let them soak for a half hour or so. After that just start the washing machine again and let it do its thing.

I have the leaves from He!!. I find that a good blast from a blow gun works best for me. Direct the air flow right at each piece of leaf, and they fly off clean.

I had some MF that got quite dirty from the lower quarterpanels of my car. I gave the spots a spray with Poorboy's S&W and let them soak overnight.

When I washed them they came out perfect.

Another use for S&W!
