Sno-Rake

The Rainmaker
Anyone have any first hand knowledge of this product? A car rental place in my area uses it and they think it works quite well. The manager says they have never scratched a car with it. Obviously the rental agency is probably not quite as particular as we might be, but who knows, might be worth checking out. I did a search on Google and found several sites, but not really much information. It appears to be marketed towards car dealers and rental places. One site that Dogpile came up with was:

According to the site:
The patented Sno-Rake head is constructed of polyethylene foam that is molded around a block of superior grade maple wood to solidly form the head.

So, if the polyethylene foam doesn't scratch, it might work. I'm sure it's better than the standard brush with plastic bristles.

Did you notice that the company is in Florida...

the way I see it, if there is dirt on the car when it snows, your gonna get swirls no matter what. The only thing you can reduce is how many....

I seen the sno rake in action. It does okay. I might actually get one once ei get the 500 to fix my truck.

*EIDT... One reason some products are made in placecs they are not needed is because joe schmoe invents it in his garage, sends it to DC to get patented, then sells the patent to perspective companies looking for a product similar to what he invented...

I have used this im the past

Here is what you need to remember. Would you use the water blade if you did not wash your car, you just hosed off. NO because of all the dirt still on the car.

This is the same thing, you are pushing not only the snow around but dirt under the snow and that is what can scratch your car.

I love when products say it will not scratch your car. They always forget to mention that the dirt on the car and there product together will scratch your car.

I used this just for some quick snow removal when i needed to take a layer off. I would never directly lay it on the car. I did the best i can without touching the car.

You know, I really don't think there is a way to remove the snow and ice without some damage. If you just leave it alone and let it melt, a sheet invariably will slide off even if you don't drive the car.

How about we start a fad where swirls and smears are a desirable thing for vehicles. It would sure make things a lot easier. Heck, I've already got that down pat.

Charles;)

I have a snow brum which is the same thing as the snow rake. I like the fact I can clear the snow off the windows and the the body fast. When I remove snow from the body panels, I leave a thin layer of snow on the car, so do not scratch the surface with dirt or ice dragging across the surface.

I have some first hand experience with that product. At the dealership I work at (as a detailer) we must clear all snow off of the vehicles on our lot if we have over 1" of accumulation. So they give the rakes to us and all of the salesmen :scared

After the first day we all used the rakes that afternoon there where 10 cars lined up to get new pin-stripes! It ripped them off not to mention the scratches it left on the dark colored cars. To say the least now the detailer are the only ones allowed to use the rakes and we only clear off the windows with them :D
