Smeared and hazy

I have a 2006 Ford F150, Black and I washed the truck and polished it with Klasse AIO and wax it with Meguiars NG2 and from 5 feet in it looks good, but back away and it looks smeared, it was all done by hand, any ideas what I did wrong and what I need to do to rectify it

With out any pic's it could be a number of things. Klasse AIO can be a pain to remove and can get smeary, next time try removing it with a damp MF towel (use water or a QD).

I have all too much experience with black cars and I really think you need a Porter Cable to get them right. When working by hand, each stroke has a slightly different pressure and it will often show up as an uneven finish. When I work in small spots by hand, I often use a 6" Porter Cable pad with the Griots pad holder, which allows for a more even application. Black is not a color - it's a part-time job. Good luck.

Sometimes it can be the towels your using. I've had instances where no matter what I do or what I use, I just couldn't keep from smearing or streaking. BFWD was the worst about this. I bought a couple nice packs of Griots Speed Shine towels and haven't had that problem since. I wash them separate from the others, and keep them rolled up in freezer bags so I know there is absolutely nothing foreign in them. You'd be surprised what a difference it makes when you have dedicated finishing towels. Not saying this will fix this problem without seeing it, but its something to keep in mind nonetheless.

It could be a number of factors that might be doing this to you, your towels could be holding something in them, not using a machine because one's arm doesn't have the power like a machine, wrong pads, product not remove all the way, weather will play games with and etc. IMO it's your towels or not having the pressure to polish by hand and leaving some product behind even if you don't see it.

my best guess is that its related to the conditions.

was it hot / humid? in direct sunlight? how long did you allow the product to setup before buffing off and did you do the 'swipe test' to see if it was ready?

had a similar situation a year or two ago with a black car in hot / humid conditions

it was done under a covered shed and I let the Klasse sit for 2 hours and the Meguiars for 4 hours, I think it also could have been something oily on wash mitt

I've never used Klasse but I have used Mequiars NXT wax in the past. Is it possible you left the wax on too long and didn't fully remove it? If I recall correctly I just let it dry to a haze then wiped it off. Just a thought.

The hardest part of diagnosing the problem is, at least IME, both Klasse AIO and Meg's NXT 2.0 can streak, so its hard to know what is causing this. If Klasse AIO is applied thinnly and worked into the paint (as suggested) then it seems fairly full proof. If too much is used or it isn't worked into the paint enough then it could streak.

I have also witnessed NXT 2.0 streak, but this seemed always happened (to me) in when the humidity was high.

You could try applying a thin coat of NXT directly on top of a streaked area and buffing off while still wet to see if this helps to problem.
