Slot car tracks

I just polished my windshield with Zaino Glass Polish. I guess I don't have to go to the gym today, maybe the physical therapist!

All kidding aside, with a little bit of elbow grease and the Z, I was able to polish out almost all of the water spots. It did very little for the wiper marks, but without the water spots, those look better and less visible also. If I had a PC I am sure it would have been much easier. I still have those little chips here and there and wouldn't even try to buff those out. So for what I wanted it to do, it did fairly well. Now I finished by using Stoner's Invisible glass to remove any traces of residue. Now the question is, will they come back. I was thinking about putting z-2 on for protection and beading but I want to see how it holds up on its own before trying that.

But, it does take some effort! I would put a thin coat of Z2 on the glass to make water spots easier to remove in the future. I bet you will find that you wont really have any if you wash the car once a week.

Of course now that Thanksgiving is over it is fast forward to Christmas. So I was thinking about gift for my 5 year old son. He was playing on a slot car track a couple weeks ago and had a ball. So I figured that might make a good gift. I had one as kid and an enjoyed it but HOLLY SMOKES have times changed some of these tracks are upwards to $500 and now digital with wireless controllers. It looks like a decent lower end set is going to set me back about $75 to $100 bucks. I didn?t think that they cost that much. Just wondering if any of you guys know anything about these sets or can give me any suggestions on brands etc? I would like to purchase a better know brand so I can buy different cars for him.

Thanks

Funny you should mention slot car tracks.
I was on E-bay this morning and looking at the digital ones also. They are from cheap but very cool indeed.
I can't believe what the old cars go for.
I can only suggest buy something very inexpensive just to get by for now at five years old more then likely it will get a good amount of abuse.
Hate to spend big bucks and see it in pieces in a few weeks.
Toys R Us is a good place to start.

yeah that is what I was thinking. Just did not want to go to cheap and it be a piece of crap. At his age they lose interest pretty quick. The digital ones do look like fun.
thanks harleyguy

LOL! Who do you think you're kidding, Broker? We all know you're jonesin' for the biggest, baddest digital track this side of Tokyo! Go for it, buddy!

sshh! my wife is in the same room.

GREAT Christmas idea! The added bonus is that it's something you and your son can do together instead of something he takes into his room and gets lost for hours.

You brought back memories of my old set and I did some research online. Wow, another whole sub culture!

My friend that sells performance car parts actually loves slot cars. He had them as a kid and now that he has a son that is old enough, he bought him a set. His connections have let him to offer a kit for pretty cheap comparatively speaking. It is a $270+ kit he is selling for under $180. Would be a quality set to at least check out?

that is a good savings but still a little steep for a 5 year old. Thanks
