Today I used paid time off from my full time job to do a bit of prospecting. I walk into an office building I'm talking with the receptionist and just as I walk out the door a gentlemen Who works there inquired about my services. I proceed to tell him how I can make his vehicle look good. He wants to schedule service for friday morning. Trying to be a big shot I tell him that I will check my schedule and get back to him. 1 hour later my cell phone rings a girl in the same office would also like to have her car detailed. Now keep in mind I rarely take pto from my job which is good however, I just finished having a long weekend. I guess my question is how would you guys approach the boss about having another day off. I don't get many details so I would like to make the most of this chance. Any feedback would be most helpful.

That isn't an option for me unless I take leave. In my opinion, asking for more time off after a long weekend wouldn't be professional. If I were you, I would try and schedule the details on the weekend or your normal days off. I have found it best to pay more attention to your full time job and less attention to your hobbies and part time jobs.

I work Monday through Friday. I know the gentlemen lives about 25 miles away from where I am. His work site is about 7 miles from where I am. I'm not sure where the young lady lives.

Yeah I would have to agree with the above, don't bail out on your "breadwinning" job. I would try to scheldule the details for over the weekend.

That's some darn good advice. If you have a job situation where you have vacation and it's not a problem to take off, then just ask for the Friday. Maybe you could make it a half-day or something. One thing is for sure - don't jeopardize the job that puts the food on the table unless you can make it doing the detailing thing. If you couldn't replace your full time job with the detailing job, realize that the detailing is second banana for the time being.

First question? do You own a garage, second question are you doing things by hand or machine and what steps, third what price, forth what kind of vehicles and what are the conditions. Now if you own a garage you can get address where vehicle is going to be,go after work and just drop yours off and pick theirs up and go home do it and go back and get paid, or do it on weekend.I do most if not all my cars/trucks/suv's from 11pm till 6am, means customer never misses vehicle and I like nights, no phone calls,no drop ins, work at my pace and no one around to bother me. Take vehicle to brushless car wash on way home and pull into garage and begin. Customers love it.I do also.

1. I rent a small garage close to home. Also have a mobile rig
2. Ford explorer & Honda Civic
3 my steps are as follows: Wash, Clay, wash, polish with cyclo polisher ( white finishing pad) using meguires 1 step & then finish up with a coat of natty's by hand
4. Suv= 180.00 civic= 130.00 both vehicles are in pretty good shape
