Simple Technique for Removing Difficult Tree Sap

This weekend Bret and I worked on my wife's 4 year old Toyota Camry which had some very hard orange tree sap. I tried several types of chemicals and we used a rotary with DACP with no effect. Today I discovered a process and product that works well.



1. Get some Stoner Tarminator and find your finest MF towel that you don't mind getting dirty with chemicals.

2. Spray some Tarminator on the MF towel and dab onto the tree sap and let sit for a while.

3. Rub hard with angled motions from different directions.

4. Spray on more Tarminator.

5. Wait and repeat if necessary.



This was truly some difficult tree sap and this product and process does the job. :xyxthumbs
 
Once a few years ago my car was pounded with what seemed like hundreds of drops of sap. Agh :mad: Tarminator was worth its weight in platinum :bow, saved the day in about 15 mins
 
It really did the job today and I tried a number of products. What is really impressive is how strong it is but how nice it left the finish. They hit a home run with this one!
 
Good input, Lee. I was wonder what it would take to remove those sap spots. The Goo Gone didn't make much of a dent and chipping them off with our fingernails was tedious and not too effective.



Hope the car is still looking sharp. It sure looked good when we finished.
 
Sounds like you had fortunate results.



I, on the other hand, worked on an end of a lease cleanup of an SUV whose hood was covered in sap from a pine tree. It was on there for weeks and weeks baking in the sun on the hot hood.



I tried:



Tarminator

Denatured alcohol

Clay

Mineral Spirits

Every paint cleaner imaginable from MMPC to ColorX to AIO

razor blade

steamer to try to soften it then follow with all of the above



NOTHING! Would not budge. Regardless of the technique I used, the sap remained.



So, the owner, had a perfectly detailed SUV minus the sap spots!



I was disgusted with myself.



Have any of you guys been unable to remove sap? What do you do? :mad: :nixweiss
 
Where were you guys when I had a minivan COVERED (gumball sized blobs) of Tulip tree sap...;) :D



I still have nightmares about that one (and NO I didn't get the sap to come off :scared :(
