While at Canadian Tire today, I think I struck the mother load..

Simoniz 6.5 sq ft MF drying towels. looked to be as plush as the pakshak towels. ~$15 CAD

Microtek 14"x14" MF towels. pack of 5, ~$8 CAD.

I didn't have a CD with me, so i couldn't do the rub test, but the simoniz one looked like it would pass with flying colours. not sure about the Microtek ones. 70/30 blend and not as plush as the pakshak towels, but orders of magnitude better than the walmart special MF towels.

i haven't looked in the detailing section at CT for many months, so I'm not sure when exactly they got these in. Also, I've only been to one CT in the area, I have yet to see if this is common or the exception. I found them on the bottom shelf where they keep all of the wash mitts and terry towels.

I was in the CT locally here last week ... none in there .. I would have noticed. But will keep my eyes open. Let us know how the big one works for drying.

Visited my local Canadian Tire today to check these towels out.

The Simoniz drying towel was a big surprise. This towel is a 6.5 sq ft Magic/Miracle towel. I own 4 Magic/ Miracle towels from Auto Geek and they look and feel the same as this towel. Same color, plushness, softness, weave and 6.5 sq ft. I couldn't believe my eyes, $14.00.

They also had a 5 pack of MF that are called microflex or something like that. These MF are the Concordia MF that you can buy at U.S. Walmarts. Both are from Calderon Textiles. I own many of the Concordia MF and they are exactly the same. They are even packaged the same, just different label.

I also found Stoners Invisible Glass, Trim Shine, Mothers Billet Metal Polish. There were also a bunch of new Black Magic Products including a three pack of MF.

There were also some other products of interest but I can't remember them all.

I also picked up the 6.5sq ft drying towel from Wal-Mart in Seattle. It looks really plush and I really hope it works out. I've heard to stay away from cheap microfiber, but this towel looks like a winner. I hope...

To me if the cheaper does the job your intending it to do well.. there is nothing cheap about it .. just less expensive. Not everything has to be bought from a boutique. I have had good luck withsome of the smaller less $$ towels when used for product removal.

so are concordia MF towels good quality?

Zilla,

If you do a search you will find lots of threads on the Concordia MF that are sold at U.S. Walmarts. IMO they are a low quality towel suitable for wheels, door jams, engine and other dirty work. I wouldn't touch my paint with them.

Yet on the other hand I have done the CD test with them and caused no problems. and had no scratching issues on black

Jesstzn,

I find eveything scratches a CD if you look in the right light so I don't go by that. I don't use them on paint because I have better MF for that, PakShak, Miracle Towels, and others. The Concordia towels really look ragged after a few washes and they lose their shape and the stitching on the border comes apart. They also start to lint bad after a few washes. I don't have these problems with my higher quality MF. All this points to a lower quality of MF and I won't chance it on my paint. If they work for you that is great because you can't beat the price and now they are available local. I will be buying more at Canadian Tire when I need more for the dirty jobs.

personally i agree, ill stick with pakshak and Big Blue for paint, also like meg ultimate wipe as well for wax removal, i still have to head over to ctc to pick up some stuff, can never have enough mf towels imo

Just picked up a 6.5 sq.ft. Microtex at super walmart in Jacksonville, Florida. Feels great, I think it was about 4 bucks. I've used the smaller walmart microfibers for all of my polishing and buffing needs. They work great as well.
