Hello everyone... Wanted to know if anyone has had any experience with these two different types of tapes. I'm looking for the cheapest costing tape keeping in mind not wasting time on clean up on the other end. If you've had any experience with this or any other comparable tapes please give me your input. Thanks

3M 2080
Scotch-Blue™ Painters Tape for Delicate Surfaces #2080 1 in x 60 yds (36 rls/cs)

almost everyone here uses painter s tape to tape off trim..what is the purpose you are looking for

same here I use it for protecting plastic trim against burn marks and to keep wax and polish from accumulating in the cracks and crevices. I use 3M right now but it leaves a slight residue so I wanted to know if someone had any experience with the shurtape

if it's leaving residue, either your tape is getting old or it's getting too hot .

Anyone ever heard or used Frog tape ?? Not positive that is the proper name but saw it on the DIY "Cool Tools " show. Said to leave no residue.

I saw it at lowes and was wondering also. I may just pick some up and see for myself. I go to lowes about 3 times a week.

Shur Tape is popular in body shops, and I personally know the brand is reputable but not anything about the specific product linked.

What I can tell you is an old painter's trick to getting any masking tape to remove easily without residue. Run you finger along the tape's glue side, like your lightly squeezing it. This will reduce the adhesion enough to turn even the green 3M tape into safe release.

The green 3M tape will take the heat and you can leave it on longer. I've been using the green tape for a couple years with no problems. The green tape seem heavier too. I think the blue was intended for house paint and the green for automotive. As far as Shur Tape I've never seen it at a paint supply store or a body shop use it.

I have been using the 3M Green Painters Tape. It works better in high heat or sun and is easier to remove but sticks very well during buffing. Walmart Has it in the Paint Dept.
