SG on silver

How does Klasse SG look on silver? I'm planning on detailing my sister-in-law's silver Forester this weekend and was planning on using the Klasse twins. Since I don't see her too often, I want the protection to last. I heard Klasse is second only to Zaino in durability, but also that it can be to shiny for some people. "Sterile" is the word I hear the most. What that means, I'm not too sure. I have not decided whether I will top SG or not, time being the most important factor. BTW, I'll probably polish the car with 3M FI II before AIO. Any problems with that?

termigator - I'm probably in the minority here, but I don't like SG on silver and I didn't really care for it on *my* silver Subaru. But I used it anyway because of the durability and most people thought it look wonderful. It's not like your s-i-l will be disappointed in how it looks or anything like that. IMO more SG is a better idea than a topper, at least in this case (go for the durability).

I dunno about using AIO right after FI-II. The last time I used FI-II was on a Subie, and I followed with a milder polish. Not that I had lots of micromarring or anything from the FI-II, but it did seem to look a little better after the second polishing. See what you think, the Subie clear isn't bad to work and the silver *will* let you get away with a little ;) But if you have some PI-III MG I'd probably use that instead. It definitely *will* leave a ready-to-wax finish on that paint (and most all others too).

I tried the Klasse twins once and never again. I have a silver lexus and the klasse SG for all the trouble it was taking off just didn't make that much of a difference. Then again, I don't know if it's supposed to since it is a sealant after all. I'm not sure if a sealant is supposed to affect the shine any.

Anyway, like i said, for all the trouble the SG caused me in removing I just didn't find it worthwhile. Personally I think the silver looks great after just using the AIO then I apply some wax and it looks great. I use a PC by-the-way.

FI II & SMR are the only 3M products I have or can get a hold of. I mentioned FI II because I heard AIO will undo SMR. FI II polishes instead of fill in swirls like SMR, right? Would love to try and get two coats of SG on and leave it at that. It's having to wait 24 hrs. that's putting a crimp in the time factor.

OK, then just be sure to fully break down the FI-II. You're right about the AIO/SMR thing and I hear ya on having 24 hours to spare. If you'll have it overnight, I'd just apply a second coat of SG the next day whenever you can and not sweat the "exactly 24 hours".

Here is AIO/SG on my subie..

I LOVE Klasse on silver. It could be my fav. silver combo...

With the SG on it, it looks so bright and shiny and reflective, like a mirror...

Just like silver should look..

I haven't found a better combo...

I mean it's silver, right? It's supposed to look clean and sterile and shiny as all hell...

That's pretty much the definition of SG...

True. Good point:)

Heh heh, see why you just have to *try* stuff and see how it looks to *you* :D It's not like BlacknTan and I are wrong/right, we just know what we each like to see.

Not really all that many LSPs you're gonna find a true concensus about, let alone on silver...all that "eye of the beholder" stuff.

I've had as many as six silver vehicles all with different LSPs on them, and it seemed like people would always pick a reason to like any one of the "looks" over all the others. When folks say that "silver always looks the same" I just smile and think "maybe to *you*" ;)

I guess I should jump in here since I have 4 coats of SG on top of the AIO on my titanium silver 530i.

Is Klasse the best product for the Forrester? Who knows?

But I think you sister-n-law will love the SG on her car. It will shine and it will last a long time. Probably better than anything she's ever had on the car.

Buy her a bottle of Sonus Acrylic Glanz and a MF towel to use until she can come back for another shot of SG.

AIO/SG is ho-hum. I can see why someone would scratch their head and wonder why they just went through an ordeal just to get an OK look. Been there, done that.

AIO/SG x3 or more: now we're talking!

Really depends on the lighting. IMHO, the paint job is a little blotchy looking on the hood, but overall is pretty nice. It has looked the best with NXT, really darkened it up.

I was at the BMW dealer today and looked carefully at the new models on the showroom floor. Just as I expected, orange peel on every car.

For that matter, I went to the BMW museum in Munich last month and every car there had swirl marks.

I guess it's just not a priority.

I've been to Munich as well, I bet those cars have never seen polish, and prob get a crappy wipe down every week. I was not impressed, if I recall the Mercedes museum was about the same, maybe a little better.

Yea, I am not impressed by many cars these days, they are all over priced IMHO. My 4Runner has better paint, but chips very easy, where the BMW must have a soft paint, very little chips.
