It is a great product. It is meant to be used on paint that is in really bad shape such as oxidized or with really deep swirls and/or scratches. How bad is your paint? Do you have any pics. If it is not so bad, you might want to start with SFX 2 first. Always start with the least aggressive polish/pad combo. What kind of car is it? On most cars with soft clearcoat/paint such as Japanese cars, SFX 2 and an orange pad will do the job.
