Service Offered

Good question Gina. (I actually moved this to the Professional Management & Marketing sub-forum)

Seems like the way I've kinda marketed myself, I pretty much deal with higher end cars that either need paint correction and/or interior detailing. At this time, I have no desire to do abomination details due to me not having any staff to assist. If I did, I'd surely take anything that came my way. I'm a big proponent of upselling while at the car (not on the phone) and educating my potential client as much as possible. This will allow them to make educated choices and be a win-win for all.

I'm sure you get all kinds of facinating calls??? :)

I find that the vast majority of calls I get are for deep interior cleaning and single stage polishing along with basic engine details. My primary up-sells are stone chip touch-up and multi-stage spot correction (removal of isolated RIDS).

For me it seems to depend on the time of year. Right now it's mostly full details (one-steps). Over winter it's alot of basic express details and interior only.

You are correct..we get a lot of fascinating calls..yesterday we were asked to remove the dot matrix (frits) band from around the windshield..A new vehicle and driver is very tall and bothering his view...My advice was to find aftermarket glass without dot matrix ..not sure one exists

Interior shampoo the majority of the time. Or they ask looking for one of our packages. But most likely, their main concern is the interior shampoo.

I get a lot of my deluxe detail. Which is an interior cleaning without shampooing (spot clean only), and an exterior detail without polishing.

I have been getting more 1 steps lately though and a few full corrections thrown in, but mainly my deluxe detail.

Very few, but once in awhile I get calls for paint correction on cars that have never been detailed and are 8-10 years old and their budget is $250 top.

Lately they all want the Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious paint correction. As Joey and I pull our hair out trying to get every last defect removed from the paint, I think of easier, less stressful days of doing one steps.

more money, faster work, easier on the body to do the one steps with interior...that is what my other business is focusing on selling...for the budget minded $200 price shopper!

wash, clay, Megs D151, interior APC, megs quick detailer, leather conditioning, carpet cleaning - 4-5 hours tops to be spent. 2-4 in a day with two people = nice pay day!

people typically call me up for correction work in the 400-600 range which is usually a 2 step process. Full corrections (the $750-1500 jobs) are not for daily driver cars, and thats what I tell people; show cars and weekend cars, yes! MOST people dont have the time to care for the car enough to warrant 100% jobs...so why do it? removing more clear/paint than what is necessary = not smart!

75% of the calls / e-mails I get are about (a) Leather care (b) Glass cleaning / polishing

The majority of my calls lately are for Opti-Guard application and paint correction. Occasionally I'll get an interior request too and I've also had a few requests for paint/chip repair.

Lately it seems like most communication go like this:

"I want a full detail on my ________________" So I explain to them my stage 2 which is comprehensive cleaning of the interior/exterior engine + polishing & wax and costs over $325. Then they say "oh...what can I get for like $100?" <rolls eyes>

Ask them to try to get $325 worth of money order for $100. :D:D:D

Maybe (if you get so many) you can come up with a $100 package. Something you can do in 2 - 2.5 hours. Those people will be very happy with what you can do in that amount of time. wouldn't you think?
