SEO - What Works?

I don't know if you have seen my video that I made for my website, but ever since Google bought YouTube, they decided together that the strongest way to be found on Google is via a video. Put some good videos on your website and it should be much stronger.
Here is the video I made.

Content is king. Above all the little tricks and tips you see people posting all over the place nothing beats content. The more content you have, the better.
That said, start with a platform works with easy to read URLS (yoursite.com/category/page-name). A good one is Wordpress. Add one of the SEO plugins like "All-In-One SEO", and enabling the permalink structure is the most you will need. Wordpress has TONS of themes out there so getting a site up is pretty quick, feel free to grab a free theme from one of the million sites out there, or spend a tiny bit of cash and purchase a premium theme (they are worth it).
Wordpress can do both static page as well as blog pages, so add a blog too. Even if you only post to it once every two weeks, it is enough to get fresh content on the site so the search spiders will index the site often. Then it's just a matter of people linking to you (and vice versa).
You can waste a lifetime trying to get the best "SEO". If you are mainly targeting Google, start with Matt Cutts' blog, he works for Google so he has an inside track as to how some things work.

Not sure it is that simple, but I am sure it helps. I few things I do know that help SEO is the amount of inbound links you have to your site. The more authority the link comes from the better. Another thing is your page title and your header tags. The titles should contain as many of the keywords you are targeting as possible.
