SEMA PICS 2010(Auto Concierge)

It was to pro Meguiar's. They also say that paint needs to absorb oil to nourish the paint, that is way off, todays paint's have no oils in them to renourish, they have resin but no oil.

The oil to nourish paint thing is a big merketing ploy.

This article addresses something I have wondered about, experimented with ( with no success) and am still looking for a answer - that being - under TECHNIQUE it says - "The foam wheel may be trimmed using a wire brush" - this claim is to maintain a flat surface on the foam removing the worn surface - has anyone tried this? I would not think of using a wire brush on a foam pad for fear a wire would get embedded in th foam and destroy your finish the next the foam pad was used. Maybe I am just reading this incorrectly? I have also noticed Meg pads over the years have changed in design in that the years ago when the pads were twice as thick as the pads are today - they use to be convex - high in the center of the pad - today's pads are half as thick and are flat. To me when a pad gets worn - I usually 'chuck it'. MTS

Finally got home myself and had time to get my pics up. Had a good time met quite a few guys I had only knew through the forums and meeting people in person has a way of changing perspectives(in my case in a good way).

Walked around alot, ate some good food(especially the dinner hosted by Meguiars many thanks to Kevin Brown/Jason Rose/Meguiars/Jack @ CMA and all the prominent detailers at the dinner).

It was good to see the show with pretty good crowds although going to the Casino's for dinner's the town (Vegas) has a long way to go for a full recovery.

Not a million pics, but some cars and a couple of products some of you may find interesting.

Pictures

Thanks for posting these pictures. I like seeing the new products while it seems most members only showcase the cars . The cart and flex caught my eye as well as the floor jack. Thanks again.

Yeah +1 on seeing the innovative product offerings! Thanks Bob. The cars are still way cool but for those of us unfortunate enough not to be able to attend it's great to see what some of you guys saw that were new equipment concepts. (Wait, a new FLEX ROTARY?)

Great to see all the new gear and the totally cool cars.

I understand the new Flex Rotary is only 5.5lbs. Seems like it might be the new standard.

Thanks for sharing this with us Bob!!

It was great to finally meet
you in person Bob and I appreciate the time you took to talk with me
too. Seeing some of you pics I clearly missed some areas of the show (top gear taxi), which should help others imagine just how big the event was.

The new
Flex rotary is definitely the bomb! 600 rpm
Start, doesn't bog down under heavy load, better cooling, and very comfortable to use for
those of us that don't use a handle.

It's very quiet too, I got to use it at the AG booth. Now I have to decide between this and the new DeWalt 849, which is lighter, has a 600 rpm option, vent covers, rubber covered head, etc.

I was trying to meet up with you Rasky but didn't want to interrupt you and Mike Phillips. I turned around and you were gone. Oh well, maybe some other time.

The price on the flex is like 325$!!! OUCH I say.

I think with some of the new pads and compounds out by megs I'm not sure the flex will be necessary??

It was a great show, too huge for sure!

Cheers,
GREG

This is true, the new DA system looks and sounds promising. The guys at Meguiar's said that the field tests are providing excellent results. If only I could get in on that!

Lol! Yeah, seems like we kept missing each other by just a few seconds a few times. I waited at the PAC booth and you showed up right after I left.

WHAT! And I just got my Flex rotary like 3 months ago lol.

Great pics. We spent a lot of time checking out the awesome tool boxes and cabinets, too.

There were a lot of cars there that had some hacked up paint, though, especially the ones parked outside. :banghead: They weren't really bad, but pretty much anyone on this site could have done a better job.

I don't know if I'd want my car to be displayed at SEMA after seeing so many people touch and lean on the the cars. It drove me crazy watching people lean on a car for a picture or open doors and trunk lids to some of the cars. ~X(

SEMA is such a great time, though. We killed a lot of time outside watching the Mustangs drift and the trucks jumping and drifting.

Randy

Edit: I also got to meet Jack and Eric from Lake Country. :Dancing Dot:
