Sealing Two new sentras

Hi,

I was a member a while back, haven't been here for a while, and decided to pick up detailing again as a hobby. I just bought a new 2006 Sentra 1.8S Special Edition, Code Red in color. A friend picked up a Blue Saphire identical to it one a week after. Rather than paying the $799 (on sale from 1200) package to seal, we will do the work ourselves. Im prob doing the work with her boyfriend (who is a great friend of mine), this weekend...as well as my wifes stratus (with my Meguairs Pro stuff, #5, #27, and glaze), as well as his moms s2k.

Im kinda new to sealants. We chose to use the Werkstatt Prime and Acryl. Jett sealant.

As far as the sentras - does this method sound good?

1) Wash both cars

2) Use the Prime on them - how is this best applied?

3) Clay both cars

4) Wash again, to get whatever resuidue off

5) AJ sealant.

Im not sure if the claying and the prime sould be reversed or not.

Also, I have seen some of the pics from the AJ on here, and love them. Im wondering though, can this type of product be layered at all? For example, could we then throw some of my Meguairs Pro Show Car Glaze on, and then top that with the high tech yellow wax? Or is this really overkill. And if this can be done - how long do we need to wait for the sealant to cure or set up before we can layer?

Thanks in advance, and its great to be back!

Jon

Can you wash after the clay...just to make sure any residue is off?

Also, i heard with the Werkstatt, you only should use 1oz for the entire car? Im guessing it goes on that thin?

Yes you can rewash after claying, most here do that.

You can top the AJ with the carnuba but I'd skip the glaze. The glaze typically goes under the LSP (in this case the AJ) I'm not sure if AJ would have bonding issues with the glaze or not.

12-24 hours cure time before layering or topping most sealants.

Post pics when you are done!

This AJ should bound though with the paint - correct?

Oh pics will def. be posted. The two colors are AMAZING, and after this i just cant wait.

Hah - and thats on sale. Using some 'local' product/company called commadore coatings. I think they have quite a 'monopoly' with local Richmond auto dealers - almost every dealership I know of uses them. Have to sit with a sales manager to show you how you can spray paint RIGHT on your car, and wipe it right back off! They also do some type of what looked like 'rubber coating' on the bottom - almost like what you use for a spray on bedliner.

The mgr gave us a run around stating that basically all new paint was crap since it was so acrylic, super thin, and not made to last. They also mentioned that this product gave you some 5yr warranty on your paint and chemically sealed to your paint for about that long...
