I have done the baggie test and the finish on my new car is in excellent condition. I plan on using Optimum Opti seal.If by some chance I seal some conataminents I missed can this be harmful to the finish?
What is the baggie test? If it's what I think it is, it only helps you figure out if there are a lot of contaminants in your paint that need to be clayed out, not if there are lots of swirls or not, which should be corrected before you put a hard protective sealant/coating on the finish.
Unless I'm mistaken, Optimum Opti Seal is different from Opti Coat, which is only sold to professional detailers.

Theoretically, yeah- any contamination that gets sealed can (continue to) cause damage. Whether this is a genuine, real-life concern or not is hard to say as it depends on sooo many variables.
FWIW, I take the threat seriously enough that I use a decontamination system (ValuGard's "ABC" or the one from FinishKare) on every vehicle that comes into my stable, from brand-new ones in the wrapper to older used ones. But that's just me...
Those systems are awfully easy, it's basically just doing a few extra washes with the decontamination chemicals. No, you won't mess up and damage anything
