Sealant Over Carnauba...Will It Work?

Anyone try this with good results?

I have a few final polishes that are carnauba based (1Z MP, 3M Show Car Glaze) and a few that are loaded with oils (GEPC, IHG, #9, Hand Polish #81). I'd like to use them up.

Besides 1Z Glanz Wax, do ploymer/acrylic sealants adhere to oils and carnauba?

You can always try anything...don't be scared.....and since you want to use them up.....the fact that the sealants longevity is being shortened by having a bad base to adhere to....just wax more often.....

Carnuba will not last nearly as long as a good sealant. And if the carnuba is under the sealant, the sealant goes with it. Why waste your time and energy? Put the sealant on, then top it with carnuba. But to me, why drink up the cheap booze first when you would really rather drink a single malt. When i switched to the Zaino line and found out how good it is, I canned my old stuff because it took up space in my garage.

I do that all the time especially with Zaino. I figured it makes more sense to make the paint look deeper first (with a wax) then make it glossy (zaino)... rather than the other way around. I don't see the point of putting a wax over zaino since you can't really make zaino "deeper", you're just making it duller.

I have the same question. I put EX-P on top of EX and the result is awesome (at least to me and I am easily pleased), but I wonder what is going on, chemically speaking, with the process.

I let the EX cure for 72 hours (because it rained for 3 days, not because I am patient) before doing the EX-P. My hope is that the EX is 'cured and inert' and won't be dissolved by the addition of EX-P. And also, that the EX-P will somehow 'seal in' the carnauba (may be wishful thinking).

I would like to hear an expert on this.

Since you are investing all that labor anyway, try Zaino first, then add the carnuba. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised at the results and the durability.
