I have two or three scratches on my car where you can see white. My car is black, and the scratches aren't metal deep. Did they just go through the clear and into the primer? How can i remove these if i even can? Also, would compounding remove really big scratches that 3M FI-II can't hanle?

Fresh scratches often appear white in color due to the resins in the clearcoat being exposed. If the scratches can be felt with your fingernail they can't be removed by machine buffing.

As for procedures to remove scratches please search the archives, there have been numerous theads on this issue. :up

for specific, individual scratches like this, I know of nothing better than Meguiars' Scratch-X. a little dab on a foam pad, rub in the direction of the scratch, back and forth. It won't remove a deep scratch but it will polish the edges and add fillers - and it will make the white appearance dissappear - for good as far as I've been able to tell.
