I have had an ongoing battle with scratches/scrapes/chips on the front spoiler of my black 88 Saleen. The car is lowered and every incline or steep driveway is a major cause for concern. The front spoiler has been repainted several times, and I have spent a small fortune in touch up paint just to keep the lower lip respectable.
I finally gave up and painted a thin rim of pickup bed liner on the outermost portion where the damage seems to occur most. This has given a flat neat appearance, however, the flexible bed liner is less durable than the Glazurit paint it replaced and chips off easily.
Raising the car to stock height is not an option.
What do you guys recommend for this problem?
I have noticed some Porsches and Japanese cars have special rough paint on the lower ground effects to resist chipping and damage. Should I repaint with this?
I was thinking of having a custom aluminum scrape plate made, but I fear that this would look horrible.
HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
