Scratches not coming out with HD Uno

I just bought the DA Polisher Kit (PC 7424XP, HD Uno, HD Uno foam Pad, etc...). I tried polishing some scratches out, but it isn't working.

This is my first time polishing with a machine. I decided to try on my commuter car which is a 2006 Kia to get some practice before touching my nicer cars. The scratches look like it came from drive through car washes. The scratches are clear coat scratches, it didn't go through the paint. The paint still looks shiny if you stand a couple feet back, but if you get within a foot or so you can see all the tiny scratches.

I followed the instructions on the video. I sprayed the UNO pad with a little Zaino Z6, then put 3 dime sized pellets on the pad. I spread it in an area about 2x2 then turned on the machine at speed 5. I guestimated about 25lbs of pressure, working up, down then side-to-side. I would repeat the pattern at least 3 times before wiping it down. It looked shinier, but the scratches were pretty much all still there.

I'm thinking these scratches might require something more aggressive. I have some Maguire's ScratchX I bought at Target. I was thinking about getting another foam pad and using that and the PCXP to try to work the scratches out first.

Are these scratches too severe for HD Uno? Should I try something more abrasive or am I doing something wrong?

Here are the pics of AFTER polishing. The variation in brightness is me playing with my camera settings.

yikes! I bought that same package to remove the same types of scratches! I will share my results when I use it next week- if it makes it

Well UNO had better be better than Scratch X LOL.

Couple of suggestions. Since I don't actually know what the "UNO" pad is do you have a light cutting flat pad? (usually orange) Use that. Also use more pressure. Make sure it's constant. And how long are you working the product. Nice and slow with even pressure Don't rush it. You may have just worked it too quickly.

I have used the uno on their Uno orange pad and those scratches should come out. I am wondering if you are using the blue or the orange uno pad. also you might want to slow down as the one poster already suggested. trying moving the pc 1 inch per second. I felt the orange pad and uno can remove some pretty harsh defects.

I'm using the HDUNO pad that's orange on one side and black on the other. I attach the black to the backing plate. I'll try to apply more pressure and move slower. I read somewhere to try to apply 20lbs of pressure, that the PCXP is already about 9 lbs and it only takes a tiny bit more to hit 20lbs. How many sectional passes should I do? I read somewhere the typical for the PCXP is about 8.

It's been my experience that the best technique in dealing with heavy scratches like that is to wet sand the really bad areas with 3000 grit paper and then buff. It will be much faster and the final results will be better.
