Scratched vinyl/leather seat

I have some fairly deep surface scratches on the back seats of my BMW 323. I think the seats are BMW's version of vinyl, not actually leather, but I may be wrong. Is there any way to clean these up and make the seats look better? I'll try to post pics soon.



As always, any assistance is appreciated.

If you can ascertain the material i.e. leather, urethane covered leather or vinyl perhaps we could make repair/reconditioning recommendations

TOGWT, any suggestions on how to determine the material? I don't think I have the window sticker any more, and I'm not sure how else to judge. It doesn't seem to be as soft as the leather BMW seats I've sat in, and it has held up pretty well, which suggests to me that it is probably "leatherette" as BMW calls it.
