Scratched body cladding

My girlfriend has a 2001 Pontiac Grand Am with the lovely body cladding. Recently someone put some big scratches into the cladding. Her car is black and the cladding underneath is also black. How would one fix the scratches or at least make them less obvious?

Hmm, I am trying to remember if the cladding is painted or not. If its exposed plastic, a heat gun can be used as a leveler. If its paint, use Meg's ScratchX via hand.
