Scratch X

~One manâ€â„¢s opinion / observations~

ScratchX will usually take care of light surface scratches, if the â€Ëœwater spotsâ€â„¢ are etched into the paint surface you might need something more abrasive plus a PC/rotary

~Hope this helps~

When you say tyhis, what would you reccomend. As more abrasive.

I've just started experimenting with this, but I find using ScratchX by hand on some of the bigger spots and scratches before using a PC with either DACP or 3M PI-III RC, makes it a lot easier to prep the surface (which has deeply etched water spots).

If the weather holds I'll be doing my roof or hood tomorrow.

If you do a search on "abrasive list" or "abrasive level" there are a few threads with a list of products. It's not the end all absolute answer, but it's a good starting point to look into products.

General rule of thumb is to try the least abrasive product and then gradually move up. Without us knowing what the swirls and water spots look like, it's tough to say what Scratch X will do for you.

I've used Meg's #9 in the past and had great results with swirl removal. Scratch X (from what I gather) is slightly more agressive.

Does this make sense ?
