Well, on one of these extremely salty North East days, my girlfriend was backing out of her parking spot in the PO and so was another person. They backed into each other and tapped bumpers. The rule from insurance was 50/50 as no traffic violations were broken and were both at fault.
Anyways, rather than getting it fixed, I thought I would give it a good shot even though I could catch most of the scuffs with my finger nail. So here is how it looked to begin. I just QEW'd and dryed in this pic.
I then went at it with some Meguiar's #82 SFP and a LCM White Polishing Pad on my Makita 9227c. 1 pass over and I knew I needed more cut. I moved to the Yellow LCM Cutting Pad with #82 SFP and it moved more paint for me. The paint on the outside of the bumper was VERY thin so not much happened there for me. To finish off, I went back to the White Polishing Pad with the #82 to bring back up the ultimate gloss.
Virtually all the defects came out and the shine really came back. I didn't even knew that shine existed on a bumper like that. Anyways, to finish it off, I did Klasse AIO/SG for future protection against our salty/dirty winter here in CT.
Well, I did my friend's Jeep's front bumper. He slid on ice at about 5 mph into a parking spot with a cement wall in front of it and BANG! I really wish I took pics because his came out awesome, but anyways...Enjoy these!
