Scratch on fuel tank (motorcycle)

I removed the tank trim piece on my Harley 1200xl and much to my dismay there is a scratch that is about 8-10 inches in length and about the width of a hair, maybe a little more. I have a PC but I don't think it's enough to remove the scratch. Apart from taking it to a pro, can anyone offer any help on this subject?

Does it catch your fingernail when you drag it across the surface? If it does you'll probably be able to make it less noticeable, but it will still be there. If you can't feel it then a PC with the proper pads and products should make it disappear completely.
