Good Evening All,

Long day, but good day :) ...I arrived at the client's house a little after 9am (long drive). Some of you may recognize the Mazda...I trained him about a month ago. Well, the car hasn't been washed since... :angry student! J/K... He has been VERY busy with work and hasn't had the time to get out and give the 6 the attention it deserves.

I gave it a QEW x 2, coat of Natty's, BnB on the tires, Hyper Dressing in the wells, and vacuumed/wiped down the interior. The shots were pretty impressive due to the amount of soilage ;)

This was definately the main event. 1999 Lexus RX300.

The owner is a smoker and dog owner, to give you an idea of the interior. The interior had its fair share of bumper incidents, but the huge problem was the hood. After an accident about 2 years ago, he went through insurance for a front end replace/paint. Well, the hood and tops of the fenders are dead. The clear is an absolute mess, no gloss whatsoever. I tried compounding and polishing, which did NOTHING. I later gave him advice to get the paper work together from the repair, go to the body shop first, then insurance agency to seek the warranty repair. Here's the damage.

The interior was first though. Lots of ashes, assorted items, and overall grime. I did the headliner as well, but no pics.

-APC/Hi Temp Protein Stain Remover on carpets/mats

-APC 10:1 on everything

-1Z Cockpit Premium on everything

-Gliptone Glass Cleaner

I wish I got better pics because the interior was a wreck...

The exterior was pretty contaminated with tar and bird bombs. The clay barely took it all out. The swirls were minimal because it is not washed very often. Final processes:

-QEW

-Poorboy's Clay with Poorboy's Wash as lube (GREAT combo btw)

-Race Glaze Fast Action Compound in areas with LC Prototype Pad (more on that after a couple more runs) via rotary @ 1500 rpm

-Race Glaze Leveling Compound on entire vehicle with LC Prototype Pad via rotary @ 1500 rpm

-Race Glaze Polish and Sealant (1 product) with LC Polishing Pad via rotary @ 1500 rpm

-BnB on tires/trim

-Hyper Dressing in wells

The Race Glaze products were pretty easy to use and left a nice wet shine. I will make a full review once I have tried them a few times.

Enjoy!

Man your right when you said you had your work cut out for ya..I hope you didn't spend that much time with it You can add that to the pictures of clear failure..

Goodness Sean!!

You really did it on that Mazda.. I got a few questions for you:

What kind of digital camera do you use? Anything I need to know to take good pictures like that. I did a detail on my brothers car today that looked like that before but I couldnt get any pictures that looked that good that could show off how nasty it was. Although my afters did not look nearly as good as that Mazda is was a HUGEEEE improvement and I would like to know how to properly take these pictures to show off a little:)

Patrick: You were talking to me when I first saw the Lexus. It was quite the site :( ...I'll do that in a few...gotta go grab a cocktail :)

CutNAction: Thanks :) ... I use a Sony MVC-CD300 camera. I have had the camera for a little over 3 years and just since about May I have gotten good with it. I take the pics in "Automatic" most of the time...the little green camera pic on the dial. I usually dial up the aperature a touch...to about .3 or .7 ...I feel at 0.0, the pics come out much darker than it is outside :nixweiss ...In the Mazda pics, I also "Forced Flash" meaning I used the flash to completely light up the entire image, even though the sun was out. Give that a shot, hope this helps.

Paul: :lol ...It certainly looks like that ;)

nice job... i especially like the mazda 6... i have a silver one to do... whenever the chick isnt working.. i was supposed to do it for her birthday, which was sept 14, but shes always busy! (long time ago huh!?!)cant wait to do it.. the lines on that car are nice, and i love the sporty look right out of the factory..

so i take it your home for winter break now?

Sean, very nice job :xyxthumbs .

What's up with that front wheel on the Lexus - is it a spare ?

I see you're stepping away from your favorite Menzerna polishes. Is it just to try something different ?

Thank you :)

Navindra: It's a really nice car. I, too, love the lines :)

Yeah I'm home. Shoot me an IM tomorrow...I should be detailing my moms new Silverado...Bring some bottles over and I'll give you some samples of Gliptone...Just make sure you bring some of your favs over as I'm always interested in trying new stuff :)

kartoon: Yeah it's a spare :)

I recieved the entire Race Glaze line in sample size to try out. The owner asked me to give em a shot and post a full review. So, once I try a few more times, I will post a complete review.

Menzerna is still my fav ;)

Lee: Just for you, one more...

"Lee: Just for you, one more"

Best picture yet. Great gloss and reflections. Surface prep on that baby must be flawless.

I cannot believe people let an RX300 get that bad. I had to detail one in similar condition. I didn't even bother with pics it was so nasty. Came out a lot better but that is a relative term. :(

That clear on the hood is completely shot. Checking all over it! I hope his insurance can get it fixed right this time for him.

Excellent work on the interior, dogs + cigarettes = lots of work!

I haven't had a chance to try either of the Race Glaze polishes, just the sealant, wash and QD (I really like the QD, btw!) but it looks like they did a good job for you.

Lee: It got clayed with Poorboy's clay, polished with Menzerna PO85RD (Ceramiclear line), then Zaino Z5 and now it has Natty's to top. I'm very pleased, as was Sage (the owner), with the results :)

Scott: It was horrendous to look at and know I couldn't do anything about it. He was very happy to hear my insight though and looks forward to getting it redone.

Race Glaze worked pretty well for me, but being a light colored car and the sun tucking in and out from the trees, clouds, and tall houses, I was unable to fully evaluate it. I'll be working with it further :)
