I had a large spot of rusty red sappy material on my hood from parking under a tree, and by the time I tried to rinse it off (about 2 days later), it left some serious damage. After softening with water and getting the majority of it off, I realized some of the paint had already begun to crack. I gently cleaned the residue with clay, and gave it a once over with 1Z. However, I am still left with a very hazy spot...as well some some very small crinkles in the paint. What kind of tree sap can do this kind of damage? (I'm in Southern Cal, btw).
I would be fine to live with the blemish if only I could minimize the appearance a bit. Any tips on the best approach? Also, when I bought this car new a few months ago (groan), there was a very small air void in the hood and they offered to have it repainted. I'm pretty sure I could hold them to that promise, but not sure if its even worth it considering it would be the same quality of factory baked paint.
Thanks,
Mitch
