My first detail of a silver metallic car. Just happens to be a family owned Saab. The paint hasn't been maintained since new, except for an occasional wash.
Exterior
Clay & Wash - Simultaneously ( I prefer it that way)
Megs Gold Class Shampoo. I wanted lots of lubricity and foam for the clay process.
Swirls and scuff marks removed with SSR and a PC.
Polished with 3M Professional Finish. 12 hour cure.
Two layers of DP Max Wax with 8 hours cure in between.
Wheels, Tire and Wells. Took major elbow grease to remove the built up grime and brake dust. But, I'm very pleased with the Megs performance.
Megs APC+ 4:1
Wheels - DP Wheel Glaze
Tires - System One Licorice - Two coats
Wells - A cheap tire spray from Advance Auto, worked in with a brush and wiped down.
Door jambs
Steam cleaned with small household steamer. Wiped dry, then wiped with Showtime detail spray.
Glass
Interior Glass - Megs Glass Cleaner 10:1. Excellent results on such dirty glass. Three cleanings were required to get them immaculate and streak free.
Exterior Glass
Clay treatment while washing the car.
Megs Glass Cleaner 10:1, followed by Rain X Windshield Wax.
Interior Leather & Vinyl
Cleaned all vinyl and leather with Megs APC+ 10:1 and allowed to dry.
Vacuumed carpet with Metro Vac. Nice to own a powerful vacuum. It lifts the carpet off the floor with suction.
Cleaned all carpeted area with Megs APC+ 10:1
Extracted moisture from carpet with ShopVac.
Dressed all leather and vinyl with DP Interior Protectant. Two coats, second coat buffed until dry.
Black Exterior Trim
Mothers Back to Black. Three coats required, with buffing in between coats. The trim was gray when cleaned with APC+. The Back to Black did a good job.
A few pictures to show progress. Not many before shots. My hands were too dirty to touch my new camera.
Notice the grime. That's just the deck lid!
Clay treatment on glass.
Nasty wheels and tires no match for APC+
SSR Complete
Leather & Vinyl Complete. Check out the door jambs.
Black trim with edge undone for comparison.
A few photos of the finished detail
Hood photo with rain clouds above.
This is my 4th detail as a hobby. I'm addicted!
Thanks for looking.
