Rust Protection

I'm going tomorrow to get my truck done at Krown but I hate the way under the hood looks with the oil, is there a product that can get rid of it in the spring. Also I won't let them wash my truck when they are done so what is they best way to remove the over spray of oil.
 
best thing I can think of is to go to the touchless. The soaps some use are pretty much degreasers.

I took my car through the other day b/c it was too dirty to do an ONR wash. Came home and then did a rinseless. The KSG from winter prep didn't seem too affected by the soap. So far so good...
 
Paint thinner on a cloth and some elbow grease will most likely do the trick but will removing it void any warranty?

My truck never seems to come clean when I take it to the touchless carwash, there is always a film left over on it.
 
anything you use to break up the oil will likely remove your wax since it is also oil-based.

how about the triple foam you get at the coin-op places. Those are degreasers too and you get access to the power washer... the one on Vic park south of york mills is pretty good.

That's not too far from me,the one I go to does not have triple foam. Thanks
 
That is the trade-off with rust protection. In order to protect it has to be there. To remove over-spray from the paint any good body shop prep-sol will work. As far as removing it from the engine compartment it will void your warranty and your under hood area will rust. I bought a Chicago area car in 1998. It is a 1976 Matador. It was rust proofed when new. I spent about 100 hours with a pint thinner soaked rag removing the wax like rust proof coating from under the hood, door jambs etc. The paint underneath looked brand new. It works.
 
Im sorry, but i cant really understand what you want to do. Are you asking about rust proofing your engine bay( firewall, frame horns, bumper brace/bracket, chassis?) Or just under your hood(which is usually covered with some sort of heat resistant felt material(?)... Check the engine for any oil leaks, if its just overspray or you have busted head gasket issue or leaky distributor (for cars that still has distributor). Anyway, if it was rust proofing, there is POR-15 (black in color), or eastwood rust proof products that you may consider if you want a total RUST PROTECTION.
For a good wash you'll be needing a piwer wash. For cleaning those oily, greasy engine walls, i suggest you cover all electronic/electricals (such as fuse box, battery terminals, starter/alternator/ ground terminals, oxygen sensor/maf sensor and most sensors), spray some simple green or MARINE CLEAN (por-15 product) to oily areas then go crazy with the power washer.

Just correct me if what i have suggested is totally not applicable to your query.
 
Back when I was cleaning cars at the dealership we used basically parts cleaning solvent to remove rust proofing overspray. We used to buy it in 55gal drums, cheap stuff but it is basically the same thing Bobby is suggesting to you. There's nothing that is going to clean off the oily overspray and not harm your wax. As far as under the hood goes I would check the warranty first but you could use a can of spray on engine degreaser t clean it off.
