Rust Help!

i'm fixing a 92 lebaron for a very poor friend who needs a car bad. i'm tring my hardest to make it look decent cause he's the type to complain about everything. i've spent a ton of money on all of it, inside and out. i've got the engine running which is a miracle in itself and i stole the radio out of my mommy's old car and put it in there for him.....but i dont have the money right now to buy rims and its only got 14" alloys that are covered in rust. is there any household products that i can use to remove the rust??? please help me, thanks in advance.
 
It depends on how bad the rust is. Rust stains aren't hard to deal with, but really nasty corroded chrome rust is a pain in the keester. Any chance you could post a picture of the damage so we could better find out what the problem is? Its hard to suggest solutions for situations like this when we really don't know how severe it is.
