Router Help!!

Just One More Coat
I think my router has taken a dive...lost my net connection a few days back, during a good size storm, after some work on the modem. I was able to get that back up...then reconnected the Linksys router.

I could still access the net but, all my other wireless PC's do not see the router...I've power cycled, reset had tech support try all kinds of stuff...its like its not even there...I can't access the routers setup page, tried to download new firmware...nothing works.

I don't have the CD that came with it so I can't reinstall, which you don't need if you can get onto the routers setup web page.

Any ideas would be helpful thanks

I'm thinking new router

I'll pm you. There are several things to try..most of which have probably been tried, but you never know.....

The default linksys router address is 192.168.1.1

when you type this in what do you get? Do you get your setup page?

Nothing can't access that page...I've tried that one and various others sites recommend on the net

Have you tried throwing it against a wall or smashing it with a hammer? It may not fix the problem, but I'm sure it will make you feel better.

I think it is fried but one last resort is to reflash the firmware assuming the firmware itself was corrupted. I made a linksys router brain dead once and used the manual method to revive. When brain dead, I could not access thru normal methods (192.168.1.1).

The emergency restore method involves changing pc to half duplex, etc and following a special procedure. The info is on the linksys web site.
